In the summer of 2024, i went to a campingtrip in St. Dennis Fribourg with some friends which i had a nice time there and at that time we went for a walk. While we were walking, i saw a group of cows and they were so cute. So i wanted to paint some cows in this “CMYK glazing” technic that i was just just experimenting with. With this piece, i’ll always remember this campingtrip i had. This painting belongs to the serie called “CMYK Chronicals”. Here is the process:

After the grisaille, i start to do fun part of painting which is glazing. In this painting, strated with some Magenta from CMYK.

First, i start with an ébauche underpaint which literally means a sketch underpainting to map out my basic shapes and form.

Then, i followed it up with Cyan from CMYK. I had to paint the sky with a phisycally mixed sky colour because the sky looked too nocturnal or too dark and grayish.

Then, i do a rendering in grisaille which is an grey scale painting. Grisaille is K(keycolour) in CMYK.

Finally, i finished it of with some Yellow from CMYK with a little bit of finising touches. For highligts of the grass and the trees, i needed to paint highlights with some phisycally mixed pastelgreen to tone down the Yellow glaze. I also did a white glaze on the mountains and clouds for athmospheric contrast.
