In 2024, i was doing a lot of research about colour theory and different technics. I learned a technic that beleived to be used by the Old Masters that you do a grisaille then you glaze with transparent colours (which is already debunked by many resources) and i heard about CMYK when i was in screenprinting class at my university. I always also loved how layered, smooth and very well blended the baroque paintings were. So i wanted to create a serie called “CMYK chronicals”. Let me show you how i did it:

First, i start with an ébauche underpaint which literally means a sketch underpainting to map out my basic shapes and form.

After the grisaille, i start to do fun part of painting which is glazing. In this painting, strated with some Cyan from CMYK.

Then, i do a rendering in grisaille which is an grey scale painting. Grisaille is K(keycolour) in CMYK.

Then, i followed it up with Magenta from CMYK.

Finally, i finished it of with a lot of Yellow from CMYK with a little bit of touch ups.
